Kaleide (2017)
Choreographed and danced by : Amorphous Dance Collective
Original music composition by Dylan Eldredge Fitzwater
a·mor·phous
əˈmôrfəs/
of no particular kind or character; indeterminate; having no pattern or structure.
Amorphous Dance Collective, based in Providence RI, has existed in many forms. It was nameless for about 5 years, possibly more, as a space for those interested in movement to experiment and make work together. The premise of the collective is that all of the dancers split in paying for the rehearsal space, and offer themselves as a group of dancers who are interested in experimenting with different movement and compositional voices. It quickly became a space where dancers can workshop ideas with each other in a supportive, non-judgmental space. The collective has presented collaborative work for the community in the Greater Providence, Rhode Island area at PVD Fest, AS220, NACHMO Boston, and Lunar Teeth, New Bedford.

In Kaleide, Amorphous Dance Collective delves into concepts of weakness and strength. Inspired by natural sounds, images, and spoken-words, each dancer constructs a personal vignette that becomes woven into a larger narrative of potency and vulnerability. Created in a spirit of true collaboration, Kaleide’s dancers are also its creators. The dancers have varying backgrounds of technique, composition, and movement experience, which they draw from throughout the creative process
